Kathu series has its origin in stories and songs based on family values. Kathu is a small kitten living with her family and friends in a quiet place. The stories unfold the pranks of Kathu and explore virtues of life, essential for growing up, with songs and musicals in between. Kathu won the State TV award for best short film for children in 2011. Kathu 4, released in December 2020, is our first production to be premiered on YouTube as short webisodes and marks our complete migration to digital platforms. The whole production was later streamed live on YouTube.
Kathu, his family and friends are introduced in this episode. Kathu along with her brother Kittu and best friend Appu takes us through four stories of love, empathy, honesty and courage. There are also three songs and two musicals of which the title song ‘Who said Meow’ has become quite popular among children and thier parents.
Kathu 2 comprises of five stories, two songs and three musicals. The stories are Pranks (kusruthi), Arrogance (vashi) Politness (vinayam) Envy (asooya) and Ability (midukku). The songs include Ochayundakkathe(Title song), Dindakai dendam (vashi song) and a repeat of the superhit Aru paranju meow.
Two funny characters – Keeri selvam (a mongoose) and Mullupandi (a porcupine) appears for the first time in Kathu 3. There are five stories in this episode – Adaptability, Fear, Creativity, Anger and Unity and also two songs. Kandan, the fearful tomcat is taught a lesson in the final story and tells us the importance of unity.
This episode is written as a web series of five stories with a song sandwiched in between. Kathu and Appu accidently embark on a journey to the nearby forest and faces several challenges before they reach home safely. The stories explore friendship, planning, leadership, broadmindedness and hope.
The latest season of Kathu, being published currently, is a story of compassion and care for a fellow being who was lost his way home. Kathu and friends make him feel at home and together they embark on quiet a few adventures. This season will be having four bonus stories making it the longest season we have ever made
